It almost can go without saying that 2006 is a crucial year in the life of Kansans. We have been at the center of national news for much of 2005 due to the embarrassing, time-consuming efforts of the conservative majority on the Kansas State Board of Education. Medical records and privacy have been under attack, while the state constitution was used as a political and religious tool that did not change anything about marriage in Kansas.
There is much at stake and, therefore, many opportunities for each and all of us to raise our level of involvement. We know you already know this or we wouldn't be approaching you for support. We also know you have many choices about where to put your resources. So, what makes the MAINstream Coalition a good buy for your 2006 contribution dollars?
The MAINstream Coalition has the organizational capacity to serve in a leadership role in a campaign to Take Back Kansas. We're an established organization with a 12 year history. We have a respected Board of Directors, including new Board members from DouglasCounty, and strong community support in Johnson County, with growing support all around Kansas and Western Missouri. We currently support 60 hours of staff time per week and maintain a Johnson County office that offers a community meeting space.
MAINstream has the personal network and institutional relationships needed to work with other organizations, and we have the ability to mobilize people to action. With upgraded technology in use, we also are able to produce in-house educational materials like the ones we distributed in January. The MAINstream Coalition makes things happen!
In short, the MAINstream Coalition will be around after the 2006 elections come & go. We're building more than a campaign, more than an organization-we are building a movement.
The MAINstream Coalition has become a leader for 2006 and beyond. We are nonpartisan, yet politically active. We aren't a one-issue or one-person group. As the Moderate Alliance of Informed Neighbors, we attract a broad array of members. We also connect people with one another through programs and volunteering, and, in that sense, we are a community-building organization. Our mission areas-religious liberty and public education-are cornerstones of American democracy.
Because we know that the issues that MAINstream cares about are ones that are important to you, we invite you to join us by adding your support to the campaign to Take Back Kansas!
